Public consultation on beneficial ownership disclosure in the extractive industries in Azerbaijan has been organized in Baku

The first public consultation on “Implementation of the roadmap for beneficial ownership disclosure in the extractive industries of the Republic of Azerbaijan” was held in Baku on February 13, 2019. The definitions of beneficial owner and politically exposed person, as well as key options were the questions highlighted at the event. The stakeholders of Extractive Industries in Azerbaijan were invited to the active discussion and took part in Q&A session. On behalf of CSO Sabit Bagirov and Ingilab Ahamdov made speeches on the “Why is disclosure of beneficial ownership important” panel. The discussion will continue and will be concluded by the preparation legislative suggestion to launch beneficial ownership. The project will be finalized in November 2019 and will be accompanied by info-sessions on the matter. The project is sponsored by Asian Development Bank and was executed by BDO Azerbaijan.
