Transforming Natural Resources into Sustainable Development

The training engaged 25 participants from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Mongolia. The aim of the training was to transfer skills and knowledge necessary for transforming natural resources into sustainable development to government decision makers, researchers and representatives of civil society and media.

The training was based on the Charter on Natural Resources and helped the participants to understand the link between transparency and accountability of the extractive industry with its governance effectiveness across the decision making chain.

The participants conducted an in-depth analysis and scenario building based on three aspects: 1) legal basis of natural resource governance 2) assurance of transparency and accountability in economic decision making for equal distribution of natural resource revenues and welfare 3) international standards of natural resource governance. In the last day of the training the participants of each country presented an anti-crisis strategy for their respective countries.
